Play Therapy

ETS Therapies

Non-directive play therapy is built on the belief that children have an innate drive within themselves towards health and well-being. Within this non-directive framework materials and equipment which facilitate the exploration of emotions and re-enactment of situations are utilised, allowing children to retrieve, absorb and apply knowledge.

ETS Therapies has a great deal of experience using play therapy as a psychotherapeutic approach to help children explore their lives, past and present, whilst beginning to freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through the medium of play.

Therapeutic play will normally take place in a safe, inviting and comfortable room, wherein few restrictions are imposed on the individual in order to encourage free expression and allowing for the ETS therapist to assess the child’s choices, decisions, and general play style.

The aim is to encourage a healthy means of expression, respectful and empathetic behaviour and find new and more positive ways to solve problems.

Interventions by ETS Therapies can lead to reduction not just in trauma symptoms, but also the associated behavioural symptoms displayed by the children with whom we are entrusted.

Through addressing the root causes of trauma symptoms, ETS has been able to help countless children get back on track to being children again.
